Cáceres Smart Heritage. Use of ICTs for the digital transformation of the tourism sector
Cáceres Smart Heritage is a project that, supported by the use of ICTs, aims to conserve, enhance the value of and give greater visibility to the city's heritage, acquiring greater knowledge about visitors’ profiles and the impact generated by tourist activity ""in real time"".
The implementation of this project financed by Red.es has enabled Cáceres to have a Monitoring System for Heritage Elements, which is responsible for automated control of different environmental and structural parameters focused on sustainable management and risk prevention in areas of the Monumental City of Cáceres, such as the Arch of Estrella, the Tower of Bujaco, the Cathedral of Santa María or the Centre for the Dissemination of Holy Week in Cáceres.
The destination has also implemented 10 interactive digital totems and 75 Beacon devices, which facilitate access to tourist information.
These solutions, focused on improving the destination's tourist information service, are accompanied by a tracking system which monitors the influx of visitors to the main tourist attractions in Cáceres by means of 18 counting sensors.
