My Helsinki Mini Program is a pioneering app that offers personalised recommendations based on the likes and/or preferences of Chinese tourists, allowing them to plan each activity in the destination. This initiative was created due to the large number of Chinese tourists who visit Helsinki and is based on research to understand essential aspects of this specific target audience, involving personal interviews with visitors and analysis of their customer journeys based on the information they provided.

The app works as a mini program within the WeChat ecosystem, the most popular instant messaging service in China, and provides a comprehensive mobile service with personalised advice and suggestions about what to do, how to get around and how to pay in Helsinki. It includes transport within the destination and a payment platform for Chinese travellers through WeChat Pay. With a focus on improving Chinese visitors' experiences, the app primarily offers:

  • Easy access to an integrated platform featuring information and services adapted to their needs: events, purchase advice, restaurant recommendations and more.
  • An integrated platform for transport in the destination
  • A unified payment platform which allows tourists to pay for most services that use the WeChat Pay function.

My Helsinki aims to integrate all relevant information and data about the destination without having to access several sources of data across different systems. This allows users to apply all kinds of filters to find the services that are adapted to their needs. All information is available in four languages: Finnish, English, Swedish and Chinese.
