Virtual Recreation of the Medieval Walls of Alcoy
Alcoy City Council has developed a free mobile application which, by means of a self-guided tour and aided by QR Codes, aims to show what the walls of medieval Alcoy were originally like using Virtual Reality, from its foundation in 1256 until the 16th century.
At the same time, the Alcoy Archaeological Museum has made a digital platform available to visitors where, by wearing 3D Virtual Reality glasses, the user can experience first hand one of the dwellings belonging to the Iberian settlement of Puig (4th century BC). The use of this technology allows users to enjoy an immersive, multi-sensory experience of the archaeological site and its historical context, giving them the possibility to walk through the interior of a traditional Iberian dwelling and interact with its domestic furnishings.
These two complementary projects were developed with the aim of promoting and enhancing Alcoy's medieval and Iberian archaeological heritage and sharing more knowledge about its culture.
