360º visits to Villena’s historical heritage

Villena Town Council, making use of the technology provided by Google Street View, has launched a total of three virtual tours with 360º panoramic views of cultural tourist resources, such as the Church of Santiago, the Castle of La Atalaya and the Municipal Palace of the Town Hall, in which the Villena Archaeological Museum is located.

The virtual tours are available free of charge on the Villena tourist website. The content facilitates understanding of the cultural assets and their artistic and architectural interpretation, providing users with the possibility of getting to know the differential elements of each of these emblematic spaces in greater detail.

The implementation of this tool meets the following objectives:

  • Improving the promotion and visibility of Villena's heritage
  • Increasing the quality of the experience at the destination
  • Enabling the heritage to be highlighted during those periods when the resource is not available; either because it is closed (either due to the opening hours of the resource) or due to renovations. It can also allow you to see museum pieces if they are not in the museum, because they are undergoing restoration or are on loan to another museum or exhibition.
