San Miguel de Abona, located in southern Tenerife, combines historical heritage, nature, and quality tourism. Its historic center is a designated Site of Cultural Interest, featuring buildings such as the Church of San Miguel Arcángel. The municipality covers approximately 42 km², descending from the midlands to a volcanic coast, where Montaña Amarilla stands out as a unique natural enclave. The climate is stable for most of the year, ideal for outdoor activities. It is a leading golf tourism destination thanks to Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf. It offers hiking trails, viewpoints, coastal areas, and a strong local identity reflected in its festivals, gastronomy, and traditions. Its population is around 31,160 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2024) and continues to grow, driving new services, projects, and facilities. Close to the southern airport, it offers good accessibility for visitors. It is a destination where tradition and modernity, relaxation and adventure coexist.

- Sustainability and training project for the tourism and hospitality sector: Through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), the municipality is promoting training in organic waste management, carbon footprint reduction, and more sustainable practices in accommodations.
- Incorporation of new digital tourist information tools: The City Council has launched a digital Tourist Guide in several languages, along with a Tourist Guide App that includes audio subtitles, 360º images, and virtual reality, in order to improve the visitor experience and access to information.
- Circular economy in tourism: The municipality is participating in the “Circular Tourism Communities” initiative so that hotels can contribute by adding value to their organic waste, fostering synergies between tourism and the primary sector.
- New brand strategy, accessibility, and citizen involvement: The municipality’s new tourism identity was presented at the FITUR 2025 trade fair. This includes a project called “Participa San Miguel de Abona” to incorporate the participation of residents and visitors, improving the governance of the destination.
