Salar (Granada) is an emerging tourist destination in the Poniente Granadino, noted for its valuable archaeological heritage, especially the Roman Villa of Salar, one of the most important in the peninsula, with exceptional mosaics and sculptures.
The municipality combines history, cultural traditions and nature, offering authentic experiences in a rural setting. Among its most significant events are the Jornadas Romanas, the Real Feria de Ganado and the Carnival. Its natural surroundings are ideal for hiking and active tourism. Although it does not have hotels, it does have rural accommodation and tourist homes. Its accessibility and its commitment to cultural tourism make it a reference point for historical micro-tourism in Andalusia.

Outstanding Initiatives |
- Enhancement of the Roman Villa: since its discovery in 2005, the Town Hall has focused its efforts on the conservation and promotion of this archaeological site, considered one of the most important in Andalusia. In 2024, a grant of 3 million euros was obtained from the Ministry of Tourism for its adaptation and improvement, including the construction of a new roof and the creation of two levels of visits.
- Cultural and tourism promotion: Salar has actively participated in tourism fairs and events, such as FITUR 2025, to highlight the cultural, natural and gastronomic wealth of the municipality.
- Promotion of citizen participation: the Town Council has implemented a participatory working methodology, involving the local population.
- Development of tourism infrastructures such as the creation of an accessible and dynamic website offering information on events, news and tourism resources, as well as the implementation of a public road incident reporting system to improve the visitor experience.
- Diversification of the tourist offer: the municipality has worked to diversify its tourist offer, promoting activities such as hiking, visits to historical monuments and participation in local festivities, in order to attract different types of visitors and encourage overnight stays.
- Support for local entrepreneurship: incentives have been provided for the development of tourism-related businesses, such as rural accommodation and tourist housing, to generate employment and boost the local economy.
