Given the special characteristics of this area’s heritage, the municipality is clearly committed to protecting the landscape and its habitats, which are highly diverse and offer a wide variety of flora and fauna. Life in the mountain range, the islands, the dunes, the marshes and wetlands, and the agricultural plain are all extremely important elements for the preservation of this exceptional and rich landscape.
With this in mind, policies have been implemented for several years now to adequately combine the municipality’s tourism activity with environmental preservation, both in perfect harmony with economic development. Proof of this constant effort are the official recognitions obtained: European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, Green Destinations Gold Award, and Integrated Environmental and Tourism Quality Management System. |
