Arona’s Traditions Day. Live experiences starring its historical and cultural heritage
The destination of Arona has recently obtained the Biosphere Certification. In this context, and with the aim of enhancing and giving greater visibility to its heritage from a tourist perspective, and in compliance with the sustainability criteria established by this certification, the 'Traditions Day' initiative has been developed. This project aims to bring the cultural identity, customs and ethnography of the destination of Arona closer to both local visitors and tourists through live experiences.
The Arona Traditions Day, one of the most emblematic events of the Arona Fiestas Mayores, includes different activities, among which the following stand out:
- Dramatised tours through the streets of Arona accompanied by storytellers
- Workshops on Canarian games and sports
- Folkloric performances
- Cooking workshops.
All these actions, which aim to enhance Arona's cultural heritage, also seek to improve its competitive positioning as a tourist destination, basing its offer on the principles of sustainability, participatory governance and preservation of cultural heritage.
