Shared governance in Torre d’en Galmés for greater protagonism

The Fundación Fomento del Turismo de Menorca manages, among other monuments, the Talayotic settlement of Torre d'en Galmés, one of the largest archaeological sites in the Balearic Islands and part of the "Menorca Talayotic" candidacy to be awarded the World Heritage designation by the UNESCO.

In this sense, the Fundación Fomento del Turismo de Menorca, in collaboration with the Alaior Town Council and the Consell Insular de Menorca, has developed a co-governance model that not only aims to manage the heritage to ensure its long-term conservation, but also aims to enhance its value and position it as a space for cultural exchange, in which different types of activities, such as concerts, historical recreation events and information days, are carried out. Highlights include the Full Moon Concert, the Starlight night excursions and the historical re-enactment days organised throughout the year.

The implementation of this initiative has meant that Torre d'en Galmés is now one of Menorca's main tourist resources in terms of tourist numbers.
