"As a result of an agreement signed by Castile and Leon Council, the Diocese of Astorga and the Consistory, a project has been developed with the aim of monitoring and cataloguing the buildings and monuments declared as Assets of Cultural Interest (BICs) in the municipality of Ponferrada.

This initiative consists of implementing devices equipped with IoT technology that monitor in real time different parameters and variables related to emergency situations in these spaces, detecting attempted looting, telluric movements or possible fires.

These tools are accompanied by a management software platform that monitors these variables and detects potential emergency situations, automatically issuing alerts to law enforcement authorities.

The spaces where this project has been implemented are the Church of Santiago de Peñalba, the Monastery of San Pedro de Montes, the Church of Santo Tomás de las Ollas, the Ethnological Ensemble of Peñalba de Santiago, the Parish Church of San Pedro Apóstol, the Church of La Asunción, the Church of San Martín, the Church of Saint Mary of Vizbayo and the Teibada Berciana."
