This ancient city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998, is committed to continuing to advance and innovate as a Smart Tourist Destination in the 21st century.
With more than 2,000 years of history, Alcalá invites you to travel back in time, from Complutum, the Roman city, through its medieval past, city of three cultures, city of the Renaissance and the Golden Age, birthplace of Cervantes and literary city where Quevedo, Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca studied.
The Alcalá de Henares of today combines its rich historical heritage with its incessant cultural activity in a city that is advancing in digitalisation, accessibility and sustainability and growing as a city for meetings and conferences and in language, gastronomic and sports tourism.
