Alcalá la Real is a tourist destination located in the Sierra Sur of Jaén, Andalusia. It is known for its impressive Fortaleza de la Mota (Fortress of La Mota), a testament to Andalusian urban planning and the seat of the city, Q’alt de Benzaide until the 16th century. The landscape is reminiscent of a frontier territory, with numerous watchtowers in the sea of olive trees.
