A prime geographical location (with direct access to Madrid International Airport, the IFEMA Trade Fair Centre, and just 10 minutes from the city center), a comprehensive and efficient public transport network, and a business sector comprised of over 16,000 companies (500 of them multinationals) make Alcobendas a hub for the business tourism industry.
A wide range of venues for trade fairs and conferences, along with a network of high-quality hotels and restaurants, make the city a very attractive destination for this type of visitor.
In addition to the occasional visitors drawn by these types of events, the city of Alcobendas also caters to those who commute daily for work and those who choose to enjoy their leisure time with their families.
Alcobendas hosts a large number of national and international sporting competitions. Besides its green spaces and theme parks, the city boasts a number of highly original themed museums, and its diverse cultural offerings throughout the year make Alcobendas an attractive destination.
| Joining the Smart Destinations project | Alcobendas joined the Smart Tourist Destinations project in 2019, and that same year the first diagnostic assessment was carried out, along with the delivery of the Diagnostic Report and Action Plan for its transformation into a Smart Tourist Destination. Following an initial follow-up in 2023, the diagnostic assessment for renewing its status as an Adherent Smart Tourist Destination was completed in 2025. |
