The Canal de Castilla (Canal of Castile) is located in the autonomous region of Castile and Leon, and has three branches that cross three separate provinces of the region: Burgos, Palencia and Valladolid. In total, it passes through 38 municipalities. Twenty-six of these municipalities belong to Palencia, which is the only province through which all three branches of the canal pass.
Declared Property of Cultural Interest under the category of ‘Historic Site’ in 1991 by the regional government of Castile and Leon, the Canal de Castilla is one of the finest landmarks and heritage and tourism assets to be found in Castile and Leon.

Outstanding initiatives | The Canal de Castilla joined the Smart Destinations project by drawing up the Diagnostic Report and Action Plan needed to turn it into a Smart Destination, which it carried out in December of 2018. |
