The Campo de Daroca, with its capital, Daroca, at the forefront, is one of the most emblematic medieval regions in Aragon; a place of opportunity for the three cultures of the 12th century, which led to our impressive architectural and artistic heritage today, filled with monumental World Heritage Mudejar towers, castles, and spectacular Gothic altarpieces.
Located in the heart of the Iberian System, and crisscrossed by large gorges and vast steppe plains, the Campo de Daroca offers a wealth of natural heritage, such as the Laguna de Gallocanta Nature Reserve, the largest saltwater lagoon in Western Europe, surrounded by freshwater lagoons that make this “land of lagoons” a paradise for birdwatchers.
In addition, it boasts rare features such as the Orcajo Pinsapar, the only Spanish fir forest outside southern Spain and a meeting place for mycologists and reforestation experts.
The Campo de Daroca is also marked by the pilgrimage movement that fosters the worship and devotion of the Sacred Corporals located in Daroca.
The strong historical heritage of this area is highlighted in beautiful historic sites such as Anento and Daroca, where wandering through their streets and natural surroundings is an experience for the whole family.
