Écija is one of the most attractive destinations in inland Andalusia thanks to its extraordinary historical and artistic heritage.
Located in the province of Seville, it stands out for its numerous Baroque towers, churches, palaces and convents, reflecting its splendour during the 17th and 18th centuries. But Écija is not only Baroque; during the Roman era, Astigi was the main exporter of olive oil throughout the Roman Empire during the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD.
| Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme |
Écija joined the Smart Tourist Destinations project by drawing up a Diagnostic Report and Action Plan for its transformation into a Smart Tourist Destination, which was carried out in November 2025. |
| Outstanding initiatives |
Écija is currently implementing sustainable tourism initiatives such as:

- The restoration of the Twin Towers monument as a Flamenco interpretation centre.
- A new virtual reality project at the Plaza de Armas Archaeological Site.
- Various cultural events to promote local history and culture, such as the Roman Festival and Baroque Festival.
