Las Rozas de Madrid is a municipality in the northwest of the Community of Madrid, combining a natural environment, cultural and sporting offerings, commerce, and leisure activities with a strong residential and business character.
The destination stands out for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality of life, with tourism management integrated into the city model and geared towards both visitors and residents. The tourism offerings are supported by protected natural areas such as the Dehesa de Navalcarbón and the area surrounding the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River Regional Park, as well as cultural and sporting facilities, a regular calendar of events, and a significant commercial sector.
Las Rozas develops tourism as a tool to boost the local economy and improve municipal services, incorporating digital solutions for tourist information, accessibility standards, and coordination between municipal departments, in line with the principles of the Smart Tourist Destination model.

Las Rozas joined the Smart Tourist Destinations project in 2022, and in 2023 the first diagnostic assessment was carried out, culminating in the delivery of the Diagnostic Report and Action Plan for its transformation into a Smart Tourist Destination. In 2025, the diagnostic process for renewing its status as an Adherent Smart Tourist Destination was completed. |

- Recognized as one of the Top 7 Smart Cities or Communities in the World by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) on June 18, 2025, and the only European city to achieve this distinction this year.
- The Las Rozas City Council renewed its 2024 Infoparticipa Seal, which recognizes the level of transparency and quality of public communication by local councils, achieving 100% compliance with the indicators evaluated on the transparency portal.
- The City Council also received the 2025 CNIS Award for Best Comprehensive Electronic Office, presented at the XV National Congress on Innovation and Public Services, for its work in digitizing citizen procedures.
- Las Rozas de Madrid has been awarded the “Tree Cities of the World 2024” distinction by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) for the fifth consecutive year, recognizing its excellence in the management and conservation of urban trees.
- The municipality possesses environmental, social, and economic qualities that position it to become a leading example of environmental sustainability. Part of the municipality’s territory is located within the Biosphere Reserve of the Upper Basins of the Manzanares, Lozoya, and Guadarrama Rivers, as well as the Regional Park of the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River, with the primary objective of promoting the sustainable development of these areas.
- Within the framework of the Sun&Blue Awards 2024, organized within the Tourism and Blue Economy Congress (Sun & Blue Congress), the Las Rozas City Council received a Special Mention for the initiative “Water Adventure in Las Rozas” linked to recreational and educational activities in the Dehesa de Navalcarbón canoeing channel.
