Lugo, with more than two thousand years of history, is the oldest city in Galicia.
Its iconic Roman wall, unique in the world for preserving its original perimeter intact, together with the Cathedral of Santa María and the Primitive Way of Saint James, have been recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
Beyond its rich heritage, Lugo is positioned as a leader in the fight against climate change, sustainability and the promotion of an economy based on natural resources. The city is committed to high-quality training and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of its inhabitants, integrating innovation and sustainability into its development model.

Lugo has implemented various initiatives that reinforce its commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability, including:
Lugo Transforma This is a pioneering strategy in Galicia at the municipal level, through which €13 million is being mobilised through a public entrepreneurial fund. The aim of this fund is to attract new investment to the city, promote the creation of sustainable employment and support innovative business projects through the temporary entry of the City Council into their capital. CEI-Nodus The Business and Innovation Centre (CEI-Nodus) is an initiative of the Lugo City Council aimed at promoting the city’s economy and providing a useful tool for entrepreneurs. It offers incubation spaces, ongoing training in business management and innovation, as well as advice on R&D&I, facilitating the creation and consolidation of businesses. TurisTalent 5.0 TurisTalent 5.0 is the first and only active tourism accelerator in Galicia, promoted by the City Council of Lugo. It is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations ‘…Et Edendo, Lucus’, financed with European Next Generation funds. Based in the Impulso Verde building, the programme supports innovative projects in tourism and food and wine through specialised training, technical advice and support in obtaining financing. |
