Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, lies within a captivating region. Its magic unfolds before the traveler through a breathtaking natural landscape, a land of contrasts, from the Bardenas Reales desert (a Biosphere Reserve) to the Irati Forest (the forest of forests), the peaks and valleys of the Pyrenees, and the rolling hills of the central region dotted with vineyards and castles.
Also known as Iruña, the origin of an early Basque settlement, Pamplona, a stronghold of the old Kingdom and gateway to the Camino de Santiago, has preserved its history and rich artistic heritage.
Pamplona, the city that Nobel laureate Ernest Hemingway fell in love with, is world-renowned for its San Fermín festival.
Pamplona, a verdant city surrounded by walls and fortifications, is an authentic city that maintains its traditions.
The geographical diversity of Navarre is also reflected in the city’s gastronomy. Restaurants have achieved international prestige thanks to a balance between tradition and modernity, and also thanks to the superb quality of their ingredients.
In Pamplona, where a past of customs and traditions blends with a cutting-edge and innovative future, the city is characterized as sustainable, comfortable, authentic, smart, and above all, welcoming.
IN PAMPLONA, YOU’LL FEEL GOOD.

- The major challenge facing the Tourism Department is implementing its Sustainable Tourism Development Plan (STP) called Pamplona SF365. The objective of this project, funded by Next Generation EU funds, is to develop a city tourism model based on environmental, socioeconomic, and territorial sustainability, ensuring that the benefits of tourism extend to the entire community.
- Pamplona’s sustainability plan is structured around four pillars and thirteen actions.
- Pillar 1, the green transition, comprises four actions: sustainable urban drainage systems; cycle tourism; secure and smart parking; urban ecotourism; and a circular city.
- Pillar 2 focuses on improving energy efficiency. The actions under this pillar are: Meet Green Pamplona; sustainable architecture for tourism; and the urban tourism mobility plan, including walkability, flow management, and carrying capacity.
- Pillar 3 is structured around the digital transition, and its actions focus on: smart governance; SF365 Virtual Urban Space and Digital Marketing Plan 2022-2024.
- The final focus area revolves around competitiveness. Actions within this area center on: SF365 Sustainable San Fermín; SF365 Accessible San Fermín; and Pamplona PSTD Management Office.
