Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the centre of Spain’s east coast, Valencia is a city that combines modernity and innovation with a deep respect for its history and traditions.

Valencia was the first Mediterranean city to achieve European Green Capital status. This recognition is a testament to its commitment to urban sustainability and its efforts to improve the environment and quality of life of its inhabitants.

This great city is a tourist destination whose current management model places citizens at the centre of tourism, based on the concepts of sustainability, governance, value proposition, innovation and integration, which are integrated into its new Strategic Plan.

Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme

 Valencia joined the DTI Network in February 2019 and carried out an initial assessment and action plan that will be completed in September 2022. By 2025, Valencia will have completed a new follow-up assessment, exceeding 80% compliance.

  • Neighbourhood Tourism Programme with a respectful and inclusive approach to all neighbourhood assets in Valencia’s value offering, balancing active management of tourist density with awareness-raising and dialogue with residents.
